Considering the notorious situation being faced worldwide with regard to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, popularly known as “Coronavirus” or “COVID-19”, which has been causing serious impacts not only to the aviation market, but also to the world economy, in the period between March, 2020 and October 24, 2020, as a measure to assist the airline industry, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has declared that it will waive the cancellation of arrival and departure times at coordinated airports (“slots”) from the calculation of the regularity index for obtaining historic rights by airlines.

This measure was adopted due to the reduction in demand for air transport – national and international – and its main objective was to minimize the impacts caused by the expansion of the contamination of the new disease, which has been growing exponentially.

Like ANAC, other civil aviation organizations and authorities such as the European Commission, the European Airport Coordinators Association (EUACA) in Europe, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States have adopted similar measures.
