In view of the increase in cases of coronavirus infection and with the requests to prevent the increase of contamination, the Airline sector is one of the most affected, with a significant number of cancellations and abrupt drops in national and international flights. Last night (03/18), the Federal Government signed a Provisional Measure (MP) granting some measures to minimize the effects of the viral outbreak, providing liquidity and cash flow to companies.
Among the measures are:
- Deferment in the reimbursement of tickets, with an extension of the deadline for cash reimbursement for those cancelled due to the coronavirus to twelve (12) months for passengers who request it until December 31, 2020;
- Aid from the Federal Government through credit lines from public banks, namely Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, and Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES);
- Alteration in the schedule of payment of fixed and variable contributions from the Airport Terminal administrators, postponing the payment of concession due dates to December 18.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas, also announced that the Government is drawing up a decree for the suspension of airport fees, which will postpone payments that were due between March and June to September to November.
