Início » New Regulation of Controlled Products in Brazil Approved

In the beginning of September, a decree was published that establishes the principles and rules for the inspection of controlled products by the Army Command in Brazil, thus revoking the old legislation on the subject, which dates back to 2000.

The classification of a product controlled by the Army has, as a basic premise, the existence of destructive power (i.e. explosives) or other risk property that indicates the need for its use to be restricted to legally qualified individuals and companies, technically, morally and psychologically capable, in order to ensure the safety of society and the country.

With the emergence of new products considered subject to control, the new decree expanded the classification of controlled products and changed part of its classifications as to type, such as firearms, ammunition, and chemicals, and separated them into more restricted groups within each type. It is worth pointing out that not every controlled product is prohibited, but its use may be restricted.

To assist in the enforcement of the legislation, the Controlled Products Inspection System – SisFPC was instituted, with the purpose of promoting the regulation, authorization, and inspection of activities related to controlled products. Additionally, the decree brings norms regarding the manufacture, trade, importation, exploration, collection, among other uses of such products.
